Indian IT services firm Wipro Ltd has appointed former Capgemini executive Amit Choudhary as chief operating officer and a member of Wipro's executive board. 

Choudhary, currently based in New York, will be responsible for improving the organisational as well as operational efficiency and will help in driving sustainable growth.

In July 2021, Wipro’s chief operating officer Bhanumurty B.M. retired, after which the country’s fourth largest technology services company decided to do away with having a second-in-command to Thierry Delaporte, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Wipro, Mint reported on October 20.

“Amit brings an incredible mix of strategic thinking and credible execution,” said Delaporte in a statement shared by the company.

Alum of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur and Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta, Choudhary was previously with Capgemini as COO. On his appointment at the Bangalore-based company, he said, “I hope to bring new perspectives that will further strengthen the organisation’s core business, while deepening the value we offer to our clients.”

Delaporte added, “With his experience and unique understanding, Wipro will continue to build a business that delivers to the needs of our stakeholders. Amit will be responsible for expanding our transformation and driving operational excellence, doubling down on what is most important to our company, and where we can deliver the greatest impact for our clients.”

Prior to Capgemini, Choudhary held various positions at Boston Consulting Group and Cadence Design Systems, and consulted with Boards and CXOs across industries.
