American PC maker Dell has unveiled a 32-inch IPS (in-plane switching) monitor with a 6K resolution touted UltraSharp U3224KB ahead of this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2023) to be held in Las Vegas from January 5.

Dell UltraSharp U3224KB supports both Windows and macOS with the vendor claiming that it is the world’s first 6K panel with the IPS Black technology monitor aimed at professionals who need high-quality screen for work and video conferencing. While the company has not shared the price for the product and the exact date, it may hit the market by the first half of 2023.

IPS, or in-plane switching, originally developed by electronics major LG, scores over other LCD (liquid crystal display) technologies such as vertical alignment (VA), and twisted nematic (TN). In February 2022, Dell and LG collaborated on IPS Black, a technology that aims to enhance the quality of IPS displays with deeper contrast and enhanced image quality.

The inclusion of IPS Black technology means an increase in depth for dark objects — even in dark environments — and accurate colours viewed from virtually every angle. A recent study commissioned by the vendor further Hot Tech study revealed monitors with IPS Black technology offer up to 41% deeper black levels3 and up to 1.2 times better colour accuracy than conventional IPS4, especially in displaying low grays.

The monitor is also ideal for users looking for excellent video conferencing capabilities, especially under low light conditions. It features a built-in dual gain HDR 4K webcam and provides auto framing, light adjustments plus enhanced clarity, automatic SafeShutter, echo cancellation mic and dual 14W speakers for an intelligent and more secure collaboration experience, Yoon Lee, VP, Monitors, Dell Technologies, said.

For those who may be interested in a new monitor but aren’t swayed by the 6K model, Dell has unveiled some other monitor line ups, including a curved WQHD monitor with IPS Black technology — UltraSharp 34 Curved USB-C. To be made available on January 31st for $1,260, it allows users’ to connect and display content from two PCs using picture-by-picture (PBP) and picture-in-picture (PIP) features, and comes with integrated dual 5W speakers.

There's another addition to Dell's monitor line-up in the form of the UltraSharp 43 4K USB-C Hub. It allows users to connect one PC to the monitor and split it into multiple (up to four) screen partitions, as well as connect up to four different PCs to the monitor. The monitor has handy pop-out USB-A and USB-C charging ports too. This 43-inch monitor will also be available on January 31st, and costs around $1,330.

Lee said that these monitors contain up to 85% post-consumer recycled plastics and up to 90% recycled aluminium.

Dell has also introduced a Zoom-certified collaboration keyboard — KB900 with sleek features and controls to manage Zoom calls easily. For example, they can mute and unmute the microphone, toggle between video easily, and effortlessly screen share and bring up the chat panel.

The PC maker has also introduced a premier rechargeable mouse (MS900), with a comfortable palm grip. This mouse has a track-on-glass sensor and an advanced four-way scrolling for ease of use and experience.

Ahead of the tech event, the company has also revealed a total of six gaming laptops — two under Dell and four under Alienware. The Alienware laptops come with the company’s Legend 3 design framework, and the biggest change is the introduction of 16-inch and 18-inch laptops, an upgrade over the company’s 15-inch and 17-inch laptops.
