Travel technology solutions provider Amadeus has announced the opening of its new engineering site in Pune to help expand Amadeus Labs' engineering and research and development (R&D) activities in the country, along with ramping up hiring in the country. The company’s existing R&D centre in Bengaluru has over 3,000 engineers at present.

With the launch of the new centre in Pune, Amadeus Labs will continue enhancing existing and developing new technology solutions catering to hospitality organisations across the country. Amadeus Labs Pune is located in Kalyani Nagar, one of the most preferred and upscale locations of Pune, the company said in a statement.

Also, without stating any number, the company said that the Pune centre will enable Amadeus Labs to expand its headcount in the country.

“This expansion will help us to better serve our customers, by providing them with innovative solutions that create exceptional traveller experiences. Amadeus Labs Pune will play a pivotal role in driving our global R&D efforts," said Mani Ganeshan, Global Head of Engineering, Travel Sellers Unit and Centre Head, Amadeus Labs.

The Madrid-headquartered company said that the centre will be staffed by experienced engineers who will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative solutions for Amadeus' customers in India and worldwide, with a focus on artificial intelligence, data science, and cloud-based technologies.

Amadeus Labs set up its India operations in 2008, with its first office in Bengaluru which evolved into the second-largest R&D centre for the company. The facility has consistently invested in major technology areas such as Cloud, Open Source, Big Data, application programming interface (APIs), platform-as-a-service (PaaS), etc., to create innovative solutions for the travel industry.

Last month, the company came up with a new initiative in India, Travel4Impact network, which aims to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the travel and tourism sectors in the country by providing them with a platform to collaborate and develop sustainable solutions. The initiative seeks to promote digitalisation and sustainability in tourism operations while fostering economic growth.
