Community-led economic development organisation Women in Cloud (WIC) and data protection Veeam Software India has joined hands to promote diversity and inclusivity in the field of cloud data management.

The partnership aims at promoting intellectual development among women, enhancing workforce capacity through micro-credentialing, and developing influence in cloud data management.

According to recent statistics shared by the company, the representation of women in computing jobs in India is alarmingly low, with only 26% of such jobs being held by women. The gender gap in the field of cloud data management and security is even more underrepresented. WIC and Veeam India have pledged to revolutionise the cloud data management landscape in India by fostering a more inclusive and diverse ecosystem.

The partnership will concentrate on three crucial areas including boosting workforce capacity through micro-credentialing opportunities in collaboration with universities and cloud hyperscalers.

Cloud data management is gaining influence through thought leadership initiatives that promote ESG and DEI narratives. Veeam is promoting intellectual development among women through executive professional development programming, which includes access to role models, the company said.

Cloud technology is rapidly becoming a key enabler in the Indian business sector, with various industries embracing a cloud-positive future. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) has referred it as a “trillion-dollar opportunity.”

According to a research by IDC published in 1 December 2022, the public cloud services sector in India is projected to achieve a staggering $13.0 billion by 2026, with a compound annual growth rate of 23.1% during 2021-26.
With a shared vision in mind, the partnership seeks to leverage combined resources to foster a tech industry that is both inclusive and innovative, benefiting all.
