Wakefit, a sleep and home solutions company has appointed Yash Dayal as chief technology officer (CTO). Dayal stepped down from Zepto, a quick commerce app delivering groceries where he served as head of engineering. He joined the quick commerce company more than a year ago.  

In his new role as CTO at Wakefit, he will execute the brand’s technology vision and strategy.

Dayal has over a decade experience in working with emerging and new technologies. He is passionate about the augmented reality and virtual reality space as well as in the potential of generative AI.

Prior to joining Zepto, Dayal had worked as the CTO at Zivame, an Indian lingerie company. He has also headed the Android and iOS app development for the online fashion retailer Myntra and Jabong. He had a five-year stint with the company where he worked as its director of engineering for retail and growth. Dayal has also served as principal research engineer at Yahoo! And prior to that worked at Info Edge India (naukri.com.)  

Dayal holds a master’s degree from University of Texas at El Paso. He is currently undergoing an Advanced Management program from IIM Bangalore. In his spare time he likes to watch movies, read books and tinker with Arduino projects, he mentioned in his LinkedIn profile.

Founded in 2016 by Garg and Chaitanya Ramalingegowda, Wakefit sells varied sleep and home-related products. In January this year, the Bengaluru-based direct-to-consumer (D2C) firm raised $40 million in a funding round led by Investcorp, with existing investors Sequoia India, Verlinvest and SIG who also participating in the funding round.  

The entrepreneurs said that the company would use the funding to work on its delivery operations and factory, and will also expand to Tier II and III cities.
