Adobe has announced the expansion of its generative artificial intelligence offering — Firefly — to support text prompts in eight Indian languages including Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu. Overall, it now supports over 100 languages globally for users to generate images and effects using their native language prompts. Localised versions of Firefly are also available now in 20 languages like French, German, and Japanese.

Firefly is family of generative AI solutions from Adobe, launched in March. It expands on the host of generative AI tools Adobe previously introduced in Photoshop, Express, and Lightroom last year. Adobe now claims that users have already generated over a billion images and effects on the Firefly website and Photoshop, ‘making these two of Adobe’s most successful beta releases in the company’s history’.

“We’ve been amazed at how creators have been using Firefly to create more than a billion gorgeous images and text effects making it one of Adobe’s most successful betas ever in just over three months. Today’s announcement is about making Firefly accessible to more people in their preferred languages, so they can continue to leverage our unique model to bring their imagination to life, and create the highest quality assets that are safe for commercial use,” said Ely Greenfield, chief technology officer, Digital Media at Adobe.

Last month, Adobe announced Firefly for Enterprises to allow businesses custom training Firefly with their own branded assets as per their style and brand language. Enterprises can also obtain an IP indemnity from Adobe for content generated by Firefly-based tools to use it across the organisation.

Like Adobe, Google announced on Thursday that its artificial intelligence chatbot Bard is now available in nine Indian languages — Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bangla, Urdu, Malayalam, Marathi, and Gujarati. Overall, the smart chatbot supports over 40 languages globally.
