IT services firm HCLTech on Wednesday, announced a collaboration with cloud services major Amazon Web Services (AWS) to accelerate the adoption of generative artificial intelligence (AI) at the company and by enterprises globally.

The collaboration will enable enterprises to harness AWS’s advanced GenAI portfolio that includes Amazon CodeWhisperer, Amazon Bedrock, Amazon Titan, AWS Trainium and AWS Inferentia. 

As part of the collaboration, HCLTech intends to use Amazon CodeWhisperer with over 50,000 HCLTech engineers, cloud practitioners and developers to build secure applications and leverage AI responsibly, internally and for clients, Deepak Singh, Vice President of Next Gen Developer Experience, AWS, said.

“The rapid adoption of CodeWhisperer is indicative of the value it provides to the developer community by helping them build software faster, more responsibly and more securely,” he added. 

HCLTech will also integrate its Advantage Cloud platform for automated mass application migration to cloud with Amazon CodeWhisperer, enabling automated re-hosting, refactoring and re-platforming treatments with a centralized dashboard to monitor and plan migrations.

To be sure, AWS and HCLTech share a long-term partnership and jointly launched several industry led AI advancements. For instance, earlier this year, HCLTech developed Ziva on AWS, an AI bot for the financial services industry. HCLTech has also been recognized as a machine learning ML-powered Amazon Connect launch partner, further underscoring the strength of this strategic partnership.

In June, HCLTech announced that it is expanding its partnership with Google Cloud to develop joint solutions on the latter’s genAI solutions and establish a Google Cloud Generative AI center of excellence (GenAI CoE) for clients to tap into the technology. 

During the Q1FY24 earning results, the company reiterated its focus on particularly on generative AI. HCLTech is reported to have more than 70 projects in the pipeline in different stages from proof of concept to implementation covering domains such as education, applications, system and product engineering, infrastructure and operations, and HCLSoftware products. The company is also training more than 20,000 employees on generative AI capabilities. HCLTech has launched generative AI labs in three locations globally.

Meanwhile, PwC's Pulse Survey 2023, published on Monday, suggests that enterprises feel more confident about the global economy as they prioritize technology investment, including generative AI. Respondents including CIOs and CTOs ranked "investing in new technologies" as the top priority for the next 12 to 18 months, with 59% identifying that area. Generative AI investment ranked second on the business agenda, with 46% citing the emerging technology, the report said.
