Redington Limited, a global distributor of technology products and services, has appointed V.S. Hariharan, a former Hewlett-Packard executive, as its Group chief executive officer (CEO), the company announced through an exchange filing on Friday.

Hariharan, an engineering graduate from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, has over 25 years of experience in sales, marketing, and general management. He started on his career at Wipro in India before transitioning to Singapore, where he spent over 18 years at Hewlett-Packard, holding numerous senior positions. He went on to be a Founder of a company specialising in Solar Solutions for emerging markets.

Earlier this month, Redington’s Managing Director Rajiv Srivastava resigned from the company citing personal reasons. The resignation has been accepted with immediate effect, the company said in a communication to the stock exchanges. He has been associated with the company as the Joint Managing Director since April 2, 2021 and as the Managing Director from April 1, 2022.

The Board will initiate the search for a new Managing Director for the company and plans to fill the vacancy at the earliest and well within the timelines under applicable regulatory framework. In the interim, the Board along with company’s top executives, including S.V. Krishnan, whole-time Director and Global CFO of the company, will continue to drive the company forward, the statement read.

Redington has its presence across 38 markets through 60 subsidiary offices, over 300 brand associations, and 43,000 channel partners, and serves enterprises across sectors including IT/ITeS, telecom, lifestyle, and solar products in some of the fastest growing markets like India, Singapore, South Asia, Middle-East, Africa and Turkey..

In FY2022-23, the firm reported a revenue of ₹79,519 crore which is a growth of 27% YoY and a PAT of ₹1,393 crore, a growth of 9%, Redington said in an exchange filing on 16 May. The company has also said that digital transformation has been a key growth catalyst as it transitions from its role of distributor and aggregator towards becoming a holistic technology solutions provider. 

Today, it is addressing the market demand for consumer devices and smartphones, hybrid work and learn environments, SMB and enterprise technology solutions including cloud, infrastructure for servers, storage, networking and security. The distributor is also responding to the emerging technology requirements fuelled by growing adoption of 5G, Internet of Things (IoT), Edge Computing and Generative AI, it said.
