Ex-Wipro CEO joins Axiscades as Chairman and non-exec director

Technology veteran and former chief executive officer (CEO) and managing director (MD) of Wipro Abidali Neemuchwala has joined Axiscades, a technology solutions company focussing on engineering solutions and services, as chairman and non-executive director.

Neemuchwala, whose career spans over three decades in the technology industry, began his journey with Tata Consulting Services (TCS) in 1992. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in conceptualising and scaling new businesses, including the acquisition of Citi’s eServe captive, leading to the scaling of TCS’s Digital Operations business.

In 2015, he joined Wipro and was subsequently named CEO and MD with a mandate to pivot the company to its digital future. Under his leadership, Wipro's digital business grew to 40% of overall revenues at a 35% CAGR. He initiated assertive actions within the company, including divesting non-core businesses and signing multiple mega deals including Wipro’s largest customer deal to date worth US $1.5 billion. Neemuchwala, who had been group president and chief operating officer (COO) of Wipro from April 2015, was appointed CEO with effect from 1 February 2016.

On 31 January 2020, Wipro announced that he would be stepping down due to family commitments, once a successor is appointed. On 30 May 2020, Wipro appointed former Capgemini COO Thierry Delaporte as its CEO.

Abidali Neemuchwala has been appointed as Chairman and Non-Executive Director, a decision ratified during the Board of Directors’ meeting on October 4, 2023, Axiscades Technologies said in a statement.

Neemuchwala said, "I look forward to working closely with the leadership team to drive innovation, growth, and value for all stakeholders."
Arun Krishnamurthi, CEO and MD at Axiscades, said that Neemuchwala’s wealth of experience and leadership will be instrumental in guiding the company through its next phase of growth.”

Neemuchwala has a bachelor's in engineering (BE) degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Raipur, and a master's degree in Industrial Management from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
Axiscades Technologies Ltd.’s shares were up by 5% after the company announced the leadership transition.
