Tata Communications has completed the acquisition of omnichannel integrated communication services provider Kaleyra. The deal is completed almost four months after the acquisition was first announced in June.

Under the agreement, Tata Communications has paid approximately $100 million in cash and assumed all of Kaleyra’s outstanding debt. The latter is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Communications Limited.

“In today’s hyperconnected world, customer success and loyalty are pivotal to enterprise growth across industries and geographies,” said A.S. Lakshminarayanan, MD and CEO, Tata Communications. “We at Tata Communications are committed to revolutionise how businesses engage with customers, leveraging a digital fabric to harness data insights for delivering seamless, secure, smart and impactful customer interactions. We’re thrilled to welcome Kaleyra in this journey, as together we pave the way for the future of customer experience!”

Kaleyra offers integrated communication services along with a set of proprietary platforms. It provides targeted personalisation via messaging, video, push notifications, e-mail, and voice-based services.

This acquisition is expected to Tata Communications build a stronghold in business communications domain in banking and financial services, retail and digital commerce industries across global markets. Kaleyra’s acquisition will offer Tata Communications access to Tier 1 carrier connections in the US, ready connectors to third party platforms, and video services without the need for additional software plugins. Kaleyra’s enterprise customer base includes 300 of the Fortune 500 companies and extensive mobile network operator (MNO) connections.

"When we launched Kaleyra 24 years ago with my co-founder Simone Fubini, I could hardly envision that our voyage would take us from a small Italian startup, to global expansion, a publicly listed NYSE company, and now working together with a great technology leader like Tata Communications. This is a great day for Kaleyra and our shareholders, and our employees worldwide,” Dario Calogero, Founder and the CEO of Kaleyra said at the time of acquisition announcement.
