Homegrown mapping technology company Genesys has been awarded the order to deploy state-of-the-art Digital Twin mapping technology for the redevelopment of Dharavi in Mumbai. The ₹22 crore order is handed by Porter House, and the entire project is expected to be completed in a nine-month timeframe. Genesys’ Oyster 3D Maps Platform, which is an in-house 3D digital twin platform showcasing multiple datasets parallelly in a single window, will play an important part in this project.

Started as a fisherman community settlement, Dharavi has emerged as one of the world’s largest slums. It houses up to a million dwellers in cheap yet ramshackle houses. In the past, governments have initiated several plans and programs for redevelopment projects in the area. The Gautam Adani-owned Adani Group has currently bagged the mandate to redevelop this region into a modern city hub.

Sajid Malik, chairman and managing director of Genesys International, emphasized the far-reaching impact on citizens' rights, marking a significant stride toward social and financial inclusion. He commented, "This project exemplifies Genesys' unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries in the mapping space. Our dedicated team has been instrumental in this marquee mapping project, capturing the attention of the entire geospatial community for its unparalleled complexity."

A few weeks back, Genesys’ subsidiary Genesys Middle East Ltd., secured a contract for the 3D Digital Twin mapping of the Holy City of Mecca. Awarded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, this project, valued at ₹26 crore for the initial phase.

The contract requires the completion of the project within six months from the Letter of Award (LoA). This validates Genesys' proprietary platform, Oyster 3D Maps, in high-precision mapping, covering aspects like crowd management, disaster management, and general planning for one of the world's most visited locations.
