Snowflake appoints Vijayant Rai as Managing Director for India

Data Cloud company Snowflake has announced the appointment of Vijayant Rai as its new Managing Director for India. In his new role, he will be responsible for driving business growth and the Go-To-Market strategy for Snowflake in the country. Rai takes over from Vimal Venkatram, who has moved to a regional role in Singapore, the company said. 

Rai brings over 27 years of extensive experience in senior sales positions across leading companies. His expertise lies in driving new business and revenue growth, expanding businesses in India, and attracting and retaining talent. His primary goal as Managing Director is to help customers mobilise their data for successful business outcomes. 

“As Managing Director, my primary focus will be to help our customers fully mobilise their data into successful business outcomes. I am excited to join Snowflake at this pivotal point. Snowflake recently announced a slew of new features, including Snowflake Cortex currently in private preview, that facilitates businesses with swift development of AI applications, further bolstering their commitment to driving innovation in the Indian market,” Rai said.

Speaking on Rai’s appointment Sanjay Deshmukh, Senior Vice President of ASEAN and India, said, “We believe that our business in India is at an inflection point of wider adoption across all industries, and with Rai's successful track record in building and scaling businesses, we are confident that he will spearhead our expansion in the local market and drive strong growth across all of our portfolios.”

Prior to joining Snowflake, Rai served as the Executive Director for Microsoft India, where he was the Country Leader for the banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) industry segment. His leadership experience also includes roles at Salesforce, SAP, and CA Technologies.
