Indian information technology (IT) firm Birlasoft launched its Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI) platform, Cogito, on Monday. The platform aims to deliver enterprise solutions that automate processes, generate innovative content, enhance decision-making, and improve overall business performance.

According to a company release, Birlasoft Cogito streamlines and expedites the development and implementation of Gen AI solutions for enterprises using pre-built tools, libraries, and frameworks.

The Gen AI platform also offers comprehensive support through training, educational materials, tutorials, and documentation. Birlasoft stated that organisations can use Cogito to devise roadmaps for operational improvement, adapt to market dynamics, and explore new growth opportunities.

Selvakumaran Mannappan, the company's Chief Operating Officer, stated that Birlasoft Cogito will enable businesses to rapidly innovate, improve productivity, and uncover new opportunities.

In an interview with TechCircle, Birlasoft CTO Ganesan Karuppanaicker mentioned that while the company has been using Natural Language Processing (NLP) for customer experience solutions for the past four years, Gen AI-based solutions make it easier for customers to adopt and provide significantly enhanced experiences.

Birlasoft partnered with Microsoft in July 2023 to establish a Generative AI Centre of Excellence. The partnership leverages Microsoft Azure's OpenAI Service for research, training, and collaboration, with the aim of digitally transforming enterprises in various sectors such as manufacturing, life sciences, energy, and BFSI.

Karuppanaicker stated that as part of this initiative, all 12,000 Birlasoft employees have been trained on Gen AI, and a Gen AI acceleration platform has been built to help customers quickly develop Gen AI-based solutions.

Birlasoft joins companies like Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, and HCL Technologies in building their generative AI capabilities. Generative AI has been a recurring theme for IT services companies during quarterly results announcements in recent quarters.

According to a regulatory filing on January 24, the company reported a consolidated profit after tax of ₹161 crore for the third quarter ended December 2023. The revenue from Birlasoft's operations grew by approximately 10% to ₹1,342.5 crore in the December 2023 quarter compared to ₹1,221.89 crore in the December 2022 quarter.
