Global professional services and business process management company Genpact has announced the appointment of Piyush Mehta as India country manager, effective immediately. This is an expansion of Mehta’s existing role as the chief human resource officer.

As the CHRO, Mehta shaped the company’s human resource strategy and now with the added responsibility of country manager, he will drive Genpact’s AI-first play in India, the company statement said.  It has opened and scaled three new operating centers in Tier 3 cities in India, including Madurai, Jodhpur, and Warangal – expanding its talent base and footprint.

“India remains a strategic talent market for Genpact, and we believe people are the greatest assets for us and our clients,” said BK Kalra, President and CEO, Genpact. “Piyush has a successful track record of building and growing our talent ecosystem over the last 25 years. His experience will be invaluable as we strengthen Genpact’s foundation in India.”

Mehta is working with Genpact for over two decades now. In the past, he has been part of companies like Unilever, AT&T, and PepsiCo. He is an alumnus of XLRI Jamshedpur and Hansraj College in Delhi.

In recent times, Genpact has made a few high-profile appointments. The company announced the appointment of  Balkrishan 'BK' Kalra, after its president and CEO, NV 'Tiger' Tyagarajan retired in February. Like Mehta, Kalra too has been a Genpact veteran, working there since 1999. He was earlier the global business leader for financial services and consumer and healthcare segments.

In February, the company named Vidya Rao as its new chief technology and transformation officer and Vipin Gairola as the Global Operating Officer.
