Battery storage and solutions company Exide Energy has appointed Karthick Raja S as the chief information officer (CIO). Raja made the announcement on his LinkedIn profile, noting that he will be involved with the digital innovation efforts at the Exide Industries subsidiary.

His last held role was that of CIO of Orient Cement under the CK Birla Group banner. In the role, Raja led the complete portfolio of digital technologies, cybersecurity, enterprise applications, infrastructure, and manufacturing IT. Before that, he worked with companies such as Vedanta, Maruti Suzuki, and Baxter. Raja is an alumna of Anna University and the Great Lakes Institute of Management. 

To be sure, Exide Energy is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Exide Industries and is involved with the manufacturing of advanced battery cells and its production, assembly, and sale. Last year in September, Exide Industries made a strategic investment of ₹100 crore in Exide Energies through rights issue. In April, the parent company pumped an additional ₹40 crore in the equity shares of Exide Energy Solutions . With this investment, the total investment made by the company in Exide Energy Solutions stands at over ₹1,900 crore.

"With this investment, the total investment made by the company in EESL stands at ₹1,965 crore. There is no change in the shareholding percentage of the company in EESL pursuant to such an acquisition," the company said in a regulatory filing.
