India’s second biggest IT services firm Infosys on Thursday announced a partnership with RheinEnergie, one of Germany’s leading energy providers, to advance enterprise energy transition and sustainability initiatives.

The partnership will utilise Infosys Energy Cloud, a part of Infosys Cobalt and Infosys Topaz, the company’s AI-first offering, to help businesses boost energy efficiency by up to 30-40%, the company said in a statement.

The collaboration will focus on implementing advanced solutions in cloud, data, AI, and Industry 4.0, targeting customers in travel and transportation, commercial real estate, and manufacturing sectors.

The partnership aims to develop solutions connecting renewable generation, storage, energy markets and grids, enabling enterprises to optimise their energy consumption and maximise profits from on-site renewable energy systems.

"By leveraging AI and cloud-based solutions, we aim to enable companies to effectively meet their decarbonization goals,” Ashiss Kumar Dash, Executive Vice President at Infosys, said in a statement.

Various industries, including travel, transportation, commercial real estate, and manufacturing, will benefit from actionable insights that support informed decision-making regarding investments in renewable energy and resource optimisation. Cologne-Bonn Airport is among the early adopters of this initiative, leveraging the partnership to achieve its sustainability goals and transform its energy infrastructure, the company said.

Stephan Segbers, Chief Sales Officer at RheinEnergie, mentioned that the collaboration with Infosys will allow us to deliver comprehensive solutions that help businesses manage energy costs while advancing toward a sustainable energy future,” he said.

This collaboration follows other recent initiatives by Infosys in the European market. In May, the IT firm collaborated with Commerzbank, a German bank, and Murex, to streamline its trading, and risk management platform.

In September, Infosys extended its partnership with Finland’s Posti to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency using Infosys Topaz and cloud-enabled Infosys Cobalt. Infosys also announced a long-term collaboration with the UK’s Metro Bank the same month to digitise the bank’s operations, improve automation, and integrate AI-driven capabilities.
