Ola Electric CTO steps down amid leadership shakeup
Electric Vehicle maker (EV) Ola Electric’s Chief Technology and Product Officer (CTO), Suvonil Chatterjee, has stepped down from his role, effective December 27, 2024. The development was confirmed by the company in a regulatory filing.
The company stated, “We hereby inform you that Anshul Khandelwal, Chief Marketing Officer, and Suvonil Chatterjee, Chief Technology and Product Officer, have tendered their resignation effective December 27, 2024.”
Chatterjee, who joined Ola in September 2017, has played a pivotal role in the company’s technological and design advancements. During his nearly decade-long career, he also held key positions at prominent companies such as Flipkart, Unacademy, and Housing.com. Starting as Ola’s Head of Design, Chatterjee was promoted to Chief Technology and Product Officer in 2021.
Khandelwal, the outgoing Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), joined Ola in 2019 following the company’s acquisition of Foodpanda, where he served as Head of Marketing. He later took charge as Head of Marketing at Ola Foods before ascending to the role of CMO at Ola Electric in 2022.
The leadership shakeup comes on the heels of other high-profile exits this year. Pramendra Tomar, Ola Electric’s company secretary and compliance officer, stepped down earlier in 2024, and the Chief People Officer, N Balachandar, resigned in December. These changes follow Ola Electric’s decision to lay off around 500 employees last month.
The resignations come just days after Ola announced a massive retail expansion plan. The EV maker opened 3,200 new stores in a single day, increasing its retail and service network from 800 to 4,000 outlets. The expansion is aimed at bolstering the company’s local footprint and addressing customer concerns regarding service delivery.
