Cybersecurity firm Rubrik has announced a new office in Bengaluru. The facility will combine product development, product management, customer support, and global recovery operations under one roof. The company executive did not reveal the investment made towards this facility but said that it would cater to the growing workforce strength of the company.

"India is in the midst of a massive digital transformation, and we believe there's a huge opportunity for Rubrik to help secure its digital future," said Bipul Sinha, CEO, chairman, and co-founder of Rubrik. "By investing in top engineering talent, we believe we will continue to create innovative solutions that enhance Rubrik's portfolio and support our global growth. Our new state-of-the-art facility will help meet these future plans."

In 2019, Rubrik launched its R&D centre in Bengaluru, which now serves as a hub for data security and ransomware recovery innovation. In addition, the company has active sales and presales teams in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore. Rubrik’s employee count in India has increased to 1,000 from 2017 when the Palo Alto headquartered firm entered the country.

India is Rubrik’s largest site outside India in terms of talent base. In an earlier interview with TechCircle, Arvind Nithrakashyap, Rubrik’s chief technology officer and co-founder said that the entire cloud-native protection suite was built in our India center.

Rubrik has over 5,000 customers around the world including names such as PepsiCo, NetApp, GSK, and Sephora. In India, it serves top IT services firms, and leading private banks, among others.

The company went public last year in April. As per CEO Sinha, Rubrik became the only cybersecurity firm in the US to file an IPO that year. Going public will help the company attract more customer faith and confidence, especially in the India market which largely gravitates towards legacy providers, said Sinha during the media conference.

Notably, in 2021, Microsoft bought a stake in Rubrik, expanding on an existing partnership. While the size of Microsoft wasn’t announced, it is reported to be about $4 billion.
