Rubrik names Sathish Murthy as field CTO for APJ region

Cybersecurity firm Rubrik has appointed Sathish Murthy as the field chief technology officer (CTO) for the APJ region. In this role, Murthy will be advancing the company’s cyber resilience goals, building a cyber recovery strategy, and establishing a cyber RTO (recovery time objective).

“With 25 years of transformative experience in Data Protection, Security, Storage, Cloud, and AI, Sathish has been a trusted advisor to enterprises across Asia, helping them modernize their approach to data protection and cyber resilience,” wrote Abhilash Purushothaman, Vice President & General Manager (Asia), in a LinkedIn post.

Murthy has worked with companies like HPE, Nimble Storage, EMC, and NetApp. In his most recent professional engagement, he was the system engineering manager/director at Cohesity. In this role, he led a team to build solutions helping APAC clients find efficient ways to utilise data, underpinning their business transformation.

Rubrik has over 5,000 customers around the world including names such as PepsiCo, NetApp, GSK, and Sephora. In India, it serves top IT services firms, and leading private banks, among others. The company went public last year in April. As per company spokesperson, Rubrik became the only cybersecurity firm in the US to file an IPO that year. Notably, in 2021, Microsoft bought a stake in Rubrik, expanding on an existing partnership. While the size of Microsoft wasn’t announced, it is reported to be about $4 billion. 

India is Rubrik’s largest site outside India in terms of talent base. In an earlier interview with TechCircle, Arvind Nithrakashyap, Rubrik’s chief technology officer and co-founder said that the entire cloud-native protection suite was built in our India center.
