ideaForge Technology, an Indian company that designs and manufactures UAVs, and Resonia Limited, formerly Sterlite Grid 32 Ltd, have signed a MoU to apply drone and robotics technology to India’s power transmission sector.

The collaboration aims to support the design, construction, and maintenance of transmission infrastructure using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Under the agreement, ideaForge will supply drone-based services such as geographic information system (GIS) surveys, route planning, construction progress tracking, and real-time inspections. These UAVs will use advanced sensors like LiDAR and multispectral imaging to collect data for infrastructure management. ideaForge will also provide software to support real-time monitoring and fault detection for predictive maintenance.

Another focus area is the use of heavy-lift drones for transporting materials and stringing wires in hard-to-reach locations. This technology replaces helicopters and manual labor, helping reduce risks, improve efficiency, and cut costs.

The partnership includes training programs to equip Resonia’s workforce with the skills to operate drones safely, in line with regulatory standards set by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Resonia will integrate these technologies into its project operations to improve execution speed and reduce reliance on labor. The company has previously adopted similar innovations in its projects to address resource constraints and environmental challenges.
