There have been multiple developments this week on the tech front. From  major tech events to important deals, here is a list of the most important updates for a quick catch-up:

Key announcements from Google I/O, Microsoft Build

At Google I/O 2025 this week, Google unveiled a suite of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven innovations centered around its Gemini 2.5 Pro model, featuring a new 'Deep Think' reasoning mode for enhanced problem-solving. Key announcements included the introduction of 'AI Mode' in Search, offering a more conversational and multimodal search experience, and the launch of Project Mariner, aimed at improving human-agent interactions through multitasking and learning from user actions. Additionally, Google showcased advancements in real-time translation with Google Beam, updates to Wear OS 6, and the integration of Gemini into Chrome for a more intuitive browsing experience. 

Big Tech rival Microsoft also organised its annual Build event this week. Here the focus was on Agentic AI, with CEO Satya Nadella presenting a vision for an open, agentic web where AI systems act as collaborative teammates. Microsoft introduced the Azure AI Foundry, a unified platform for building and managing AI applications, and unveiled NLWeb, a new protocol enabling websites to offer conversational interfaces powered by AI models. Enhancements to GitHub Copilot were also announced, transforming it into a more autonomous coding partner. These developments underscore both companies' commitment to integrating AI deeply into their ecosystems, signaling a transformative shift in how users interact with technology.

TCS gets add-on order from BSNL

IT services firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Wednesday announced that the company has won an add-on Advance Purchase Order (APO) worth ₹2,903 crore from state-owned telco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) for works related to its 4G mobile network.

In an exchange filing the IT major said that the add-on APO is associated with the planning, engineering, supply, installation, testing, commissioning and annual maintenance of BSNL's 4G mobile network at 18,685 sites.

Additionally, TCS this week also signed a five-year agreement with Finnish telecom operator DNA to support its transition to public cloud infrastructure. The move is part of DNA’s larger program to modernise its IT systems and improve service delivery.

The plan includes migrating up to 80 per cent of DNA’s enterprise applications to the public cloud by 2030. In the first two years, more than 100 applications will be moved to Google Cloud. TCS will use its proprietary tools, TCS Cloud Counsel and TCS Migration Factory, to automate and streamline the migration process. 

Bank of Sydney—Infosys Finacle partnership

Australia-based Bank of Sydney will adopt the Infosys Finacle Digital Banking Suite, hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), to modernise its banking operations and improve services for customers and staff.

The bank will use the digital suite in a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model, covering core banking, mobile and online services, customer onboarding, and digital engagement tools.

Bank of Sydney aims to reduce operational complexity and enhance its technology by replacing older systems with the new platform. The move is also expected to help the bank keep pace with changing customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
