Autodesk names Ashish Mittal as public sector director for India and SAARC

US-based software company Autodesk known for its design and engineering tools, has appointed Ashish Kumar Mittal as Director of the Public Sector for India and the SAARC region. The appointment comes as the company aims to expand its engagement with government institutions and public sector initiatives in the region. Mittal brings over three decades of experience in the IT sector and has worked extensively with both public and private sector organisations throughout his career.
In his new role, Mittal will be responsible for leading Autodesk’s strategy and execution across public sector projects in India. This includes managing the public sector sales team and supporting the company’s business development efforts related to government-led initiatives. He will also work closely with government officials, policymakers and industry partners to enhance Autodesk’s role in digital transformation and infrastructure development.
Autodesk said that Mittal’s experience in managing complex public sector engagements would help the company contribute more meaningfully to large-scale projects in India and neighbouring SAARC countries. The company views the public sector as a key growth area, particularly as more government departments and agencies embrace digital tools and data-driven decision-making in infrastructure and planning.

Haresh Khubchandani, Vice President for Asia Pacific and Japan at Autodesk, welcomed the appointment and said Mittal’s background would strengthen the company’s commitment to supporting India’s development goals. He noted that Autodesk is looking to play a greater role in national and regional projects, especially those aligned with the government’s long-term infrastructure plans.
Mittal commented that India’s public sector is undergoing a significant digital shift, and he looks forward to contributing to this transformation. He added that Autodesk aims to support the government’s ‘Developed India’ agenda by helping build future-ready infrastructure that can serve communities for years to come.
A graduate in Computer Science and Engineering, Mittal holds a Bachelor of Technology degree. He has held senior leadership roles in several major companies including Zenith, HCL, Oracle, Microsoft, Adobe, and ESRI India. Over the years, he has built a strong track record of business growth, stakeholder engagement, and long-term relationship management, particularly within the public sector domain.
