Utility firm Reliance Infrastructure has appointed Sudeep Agrawal as its new chief information officer (CIO). In this role, Agrawal will focus on leveraging technology to accelerate business growth and contribute to India’s clean energy transition, he wrote in a LinkedIn post.

An industry veteran, Agrawal has over two decades of experience in digital transformation and IT strategy. In his last stint, he was the vice president and Head of IT at renewable energy company ReNew Power where Agrawal led the entire IT strategy and oversee multiple digital transformation programs in the areas of finance, project management office, manufacturing, CRM, business planning and consolidation. 

Additionally, Agrawal has experience in Internet of Things (IoT), S/4 HANA, Salesforce, Anaplan, and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning-based advanced analytics, and cloud (AWS & Azure), among others; he has conducted IT assessments for business merger and demerger operations in Asia. He also worked with companies like Whirlpool, Accenture, IBM, among others.

In February, it was reported that Anil Ambani-owned Reliance Infrastructure will enter the renewable energy manufacturing landscape with the establishment of integrated solar and battery manufacturing units. 

To that end, the company made a few high-level appointments. It included appointing former ReNew Power chief technology officer (CTO) Ivan Shah as the chief executive officer (CEO), along with Mushtaque Hussain as CEO of, Battery Manufacturing. The integrated battery manufacturing unit will develop advanced energy storage solutions for grid applications and electric mobility.
