Happiest Minds Technologies, an Indian IT services firm, has announced the appointment of Anand Balakrishnan as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Balakrishna will report to Venkatraman Narayanan, who will remain Managing Director after relinquishing his CFO responsibilities. This follows the March appointment of Joseph Anantharaju as CEO, a shift from business unit leadership by executive board members and presidents. Anantharaju, who has been with the Bengaluru-based IT services company since its 2011 founding, previously served as executive vice-chairman, leading Happiest Minds’ software products and platforms division.

Balakrishnan brings over 20 years of experience in financial management, accounting, and strategic leadership. He has previously held senior positions at organisations including Marsh McLennan (formerly JLT), GE Healthcare, and Mindteck.

Most recently, he served as CFO at Mindteck, a publicly listed IT services company. During his six-year tenure, he played a key role in strengthening financial discipline and operational efficiency. He also guided the organisation back to profitability, helping to stabilise operations and support sustainable growth.

Narayanan said, “Balakrishnan brings a strong combination of financial expertise and strategic insight, which aligns with our vision for the future. I look forward to working with him as we continue to drive innovation, deliver stakeholder value, and build a sustainable, growth-oriented organisation.”

Balakrishnan is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, the Institute of Cost Accountants of India, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He holds a degree in commerce from Bangalore University.
