Meta has announced the appointment of Arun Srinivas as its new Managing Director and Head for India. He will begin this role on July 1, and continue reporting to Sandhya Devanathan, who leads Meta’s operations in both India and Southeast Asia.

Srinivas will oversee Meta’s business strategy in India, focusing on advertising, partnerships, and long-term growth. His responsibilities will include coordinating revenue efforts and managing relationships with brands, developers, and other stakeholders in the country.

Since joining Meta in 2020, Srinivas has led various parts of the company’s advertising business in India. Most recently, he served as Director and Head of Ads, where he worked with major advertisers and agencies to drive the use of Meta’s products such as Reels, WhatsApp Business, and AI-powered ad solutions.

Before joining Meta, Srinivas held leadership roles across several industries. He spent over 15 years at Hindustan Unilever, where he managed categories such as beverages, skincare, and foods across South Asia. He also worked at Reebok India during the early stages of his career in roles related to product management and marketing.

In 2017, he joined WestBridge Capital as an operating advisor, supporting the firm’s consumer sector investments. Later, in 2019, he became Chief Operating Officer and Global Chief Marketing Officer at Ola, helping the company expand its ride-hailing services, including international markets.

“As India continues to be at the forefront of economic growth and innovation, we are excited to have Arun at the helm of our efforts in this critical market. Meta in India is leading the way in AI adoption, WhatsApp, and Reels, and Arun’s impressive track record of building high-performing teams, driving product innovation, and fostering strong partnerships makes him the ideal leader to drive Meta’s continued investment in the country,” said, Sandhya Devanathan, Vice President (India and South East Asia), Meta.

The leadership change comes shortly after another key development at Meta India. Recently, Shivnath Thukral, Vice President and Head of Public Policy, announced he will step down at the end of the month. Thukral, who has been with the company for over seven years, played a central role in managing Meta’s engagement with policymakers and regulatory bodies in India.
