Google Cloud appoints new India MD

Google Cloud India has appointed Sashikumar Sreedharan as its new managing director. Previously, Sreedharan was the chief operating officer of the Google Cloud APAC region. He is taking over the reins of this role from Bikram Singh Bedi was the India region MD for the last four and half years. Bedi will now be shifting focus to strategic initiatives at Google Cloud APAC.
“My time as APAC COO has deeply affirmed my belief in Google Cloud’s winning strategy and powerful AI-first platform. I am excited to return to the field and to work with our customers to advance their innovation agenda,” he said in a statement.
In the past, Sreedharan has been at the helm of senior management positions at companies such as Microsoft, SAP, and Happiest Minds. Before Google, he was the MD of Microsoft India and led their enterprise business.

As the India MD, Sreedharan will lead Google Cloud’s go-to-market organisation in the country. He will be working with the company’s enterprise and digital native customers, partners, and developer ecosystem.
“Sashi brings a deep understanding of the dynamic Indian market and of our business honed during his tenure as our APAC Chief Operating Officer, and I’m confident his vision and expertise will drive Google Cloud to new achievements in the region,” wrote Karan Bajwa, the Google Cloud president for Asia Pacific, in his LinkedIn post.
Google Cloud India has a diverse client base across industries like banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI), retail, manufacturing, telecommunications, and startups. Some of its clients include HDFC, ICICI, the Federal Bank, Flipkart, and Reliance Group.

Currently, the company has two cloud regions in the country – in Mumbai and Delhi-NCR. The latest cloud region in Delhi-NCR was established in 2021 amid growth in demand for capacity building, disaster recovery solutions, and low latency.
