Siemens Limited has received two orders worth approximately ₹773 crore from Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MAHA-METRO) for the Nagpur Metro Rail Project Phase 2. The scope of the contracts includes the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) signaling systems and advanced telecommunication technologies. The execution of the project is scheduled over 42 months.

The Phase 2 expansion of the Nagpur Metro spans 43.8 kilometers and includes 32 stations. Siemens will deploy CBTC technology, which is expected to support automated train operations and enable efficient scheduling. The company will also implement telecommunication systems covering passenger information, public address, fiber optic transmission, and CCTV systems.

The project includes the augmentation of Phase 1 infrastructure to align with the new technology being introduced. Siemens will work across multiple locations including the main corridor, stations, and the operation control center to integrate the systems.

These contracts follow Siemens' earlier involvement in Phase 1 of the Nagpur Metro project, where it provided similar signaling and electrification solutions.

Rajeev Joisar, Head of Mobility Business, Siemens Limited, said, “We are grateful to Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited for their continued trust in us. The project will contribute significantly to sustainable urban development of Nagpur. It further demonstrates Siemens’ ability to deliver end-to-end mobility technologies that integrate automation, digitalization, and sustainability for India’s urban future.”
