Bengaluru-headquartered edge cloud and content delivery network (CDN) platform VergeCloud has announced the addition of six new Points of Presence (PoPs) in India, expanding its cloud and content delivery infrastructure across the country. The new PoPs have been set up in Noida, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Patna and Lucknow, enhancing the company’s ability to serve both metropolitan and tier-II cities.

This development aims to improve digital service delivery by reducing latency and increasing reliability for sectors including media, finance, education, e-commerce and public services. The company expects the new infrastructure to improve response times for digital applications and support growing demand for cloud-based services.

Dheeraj Chaudhary, Director of Technology at VergeCloud, said the expansion responds to the increasing need for high-performance, localised digital infrastructure. He added that the new facilities are designed to support efficient, secure, and sustainable operations by minimising data travel and optimising traffic flow. The company believes that bringing computing resources closer to users will contribute to the development of a more decentralised and responsive internet network.

VergeCloud also highlighted the environmental benefits of its edge computing strategy, noting that shorter data routes and intelligent caching can help reduce energy usage. The company views this as part of a broader effort to align with India’s digital and sustainability goals.

The expanded PoP network is expected to support national initiatives such as Smart Cities, BharatNet, and the wider Digital India programme by providing a more resilient and distributed cloud infrastructure.

VergeCloud entered the Indian market in December last year, introducing services including a content delivery network, cloud security solutions, and edge computing infrastructure. The company has raised $3 million in initial funding to support its market expansion, with the investment largely directed at outreach efforts and helping businesses make the transition to cloud technologies.
