ElevenLabs, a US-headquartered Artificial Intelligence (AI)-led voice technology firm, on Wednesday, launched India Data Residency, enabling enterprises operating in or serving India to build with ElevenLabs Voice AI while meeting local data residency and security requirements.

With India Data Residency, enterprise customers gain access to ElevenLabs’ voice AI models hosted entirely within India — ensuring voice data stays local and compliant with India’s data protection laws. This release supports use cases ranging from multilingual customer support to real-time voice interfaces, with the same high performance, low latency, and enterprise-grade security standards, ElevenLabs said in a statement. One of the key features is the local hosting facility. Customer voice data is securely stored within India-based infrastructure, ensuring it remains in-country.

ElevenLabs has been specialising in advanced speech synthesis and dubbing solutions since its inception, and in just three years, it has become a unicorn, valued at $3.3 billion after raising $281 million across four funding rounds, with backing from a16z, Sequoia, and ICONIQ.

The company now considers India as one of its key markets, by expanding language coverage and enhancing its voice AI models to better capture speech nuances and context.

“India has rapidly become one of our largest and fastest-growing markets outside the US, driven by enterprises, creators, and developers embracing voice AI at scale. With India Data Residency, we’re deepening our commitment to the market by offering world-class voice quality tailored for India’s languages and accents, while ensuring data stays secure, compliant, and locally hosted. It’s a foundational step to help Indian businesses build locally, scale globally, and engage customers in their language with trust and speed,” said Siddharth Srinivasan, GTM, ElevenLabs.

This launch is particularly relevant for enterprises in e-commerce, financial services, insurance, telecom, and education – enabling AI voice deployments for customer engagement and contact centre automation, built from the ground up with local data security in mind.

Recently, ElevenLabs partnered with ecommerce firm Meesho to deploy a multilingual AI voice agent, handling over 60,000 daily customer calls in Hindi and English. Built using ElevenLabs’ Text to Speech technology, the solution offers support in both Hindi and English. The deployment addresses Meesho’s need for a scalable and intuitive voice interface, particularly for users in tier 2 and 3 cities across India.

On Tuesday, ElevenLabs rolled out a new command-line interface (CLI) tool that allows developers to manage conversational AI agents as code, bringing version control, automation, and deployment consistency to voice and chat agent workflows. The company said that the CLI replaces manual setup through web interfaces so that developers can create agents using prebuilt templates, sync them across environments, and generate embeddable widgets for web deployment.
