Indian IT services firm Hexaware Technologies has appointed Shantanu Baruah as President & Global Head of Healthcare, Life Sciences & Insurance (H&I). Based in New Jersey, Baruah will spearhead the company's global strategy, business growth, and client success in this vertical.

Baruah brings over 25 years of experience and expertise in healthcare and life sciences, including a strong history of leading digital transformations. He joins Hexaware from HCLTech, where he served as Executive Vice President, leading their Healthcare vertical and driving significant growth in the Americas.

Hexaware's CEO, R Srikrishna, said in a press release that Baruah's leadership will be crucial for clients navigating digital health, patient-centric care, and AI innovation. “We’re excited to have Shantanu join Hexaware at a time of exciting momentum in our Healthcare, Life Sciences, and Insurance business. His leadership and deep market knowledge will be instrumental in helping our clients navigate the next era of digital health, patient-centric care, and AI-powered innovation,” said Srikrishna.

Baruah said on his new role that he is delighted to join Hexaware and lead the next phase of growth in the H&I vertical. He added, “The industry is at an inflection point, and Hexaware’s agile culture, customer-first mindset, and AI-led and human intelligence-perfected approach make it ideally positioned to partner with clients in delivering better outcomes.”

 With a master’s degree in computer applications and a bachelor’s degree in zoology, Baruah brings a unique blend of technical and scientific insight to the role. 
Earlier this month, the IT firm with Abluva, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) security services provider, to offer secure AI solutions for the life sciences sector. The partnership aims to tackle the security challenges posed by autonomous AI systems, which are vital for drug discovery, clinical trials, patient data management, and commercial operations in the industry.

Healthcare and insurance account for roughly 20% of the company’s revenues. The company, which follows a calendar year format from January to December to report its financial performance, reported robust financial performance for the second quarter of 2025. The company's net income for the quarter stood at ₹3,800 crore, marking a significant 38% year-on-year (YoY) growth. Revenue for the quarter reached ₹3,207.90 crore, reflecting a 1.70% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) increase from ₹3,154.40 crore.
