
NCDEX gets a new Chief Technology Officer


Balkrishna Shankwalker has been appointed Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Ltd (NCDEX), an agricultural commodity exchange in India.
He brings over 25 years of experience in infrastructure development, IT operations, and business transformation within regulated environments.

In his role, Shankwalker will lead NCDEX's Technology department, overseeing Infra Operations and Tech Procurement, Software Engineering, Business Solutions Group, and the Technology Command Centre. His focus will be on scaling the exchange's technology, enhancing platform resilience, and delivering market-driven innovations aligned with regulatory priorities and user expectations.
Arun Raste, MD & CEO of NCDEX, said that Shankwalker's experience in platform modernisation and leadership will be crucial in accelerating the exchange's digital transformation as NCDEX diversifies and strengthens its technology.
Shankwalker said that he aims to collaborate with stakeholders to develop future-ready systems for farmers, FPOs, investors, and regulators.

Prior to NCDEX, Shankwalker led transformation initiatives at National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL), including the transition to a New Depository System, mobile applications, private cloud implementation, and microservices-based architecture. He also held key technology roles at Protean (formerly NSDL e-Gov), contributing to national programs like TAN, PAN, and the Income Tax e-filing platform.
Shankwalker holds degrees from ITM Business School and KLE Engineering College. He is passionate about music, travel, and mentoring tech professionals.
