Debashis Chatterjee, former LTIMindtree CEO, has joined Ascendion's Board of Directors. Ascendion, a New Jersey-based IT company with approximately 6,000 global employees, including 2,000 in India (Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad), has been steadily expanding its India operations.

As the company is planning to increase its headcount and integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven development models for growth, it views Chatterjee's appointment as crucial to leading software engineering transformation in the AI era.

Chatterjee, a mechanical engineering graduate from Jadavpur University with over three decades of experience, has spearheaded multi-billion-dollar transformations and strategic growth for Fortune 500 clients. He led Mindtree as CEO and Managing Director from 2019, orchestrating the merger with LTI to create LTIMindtree in 2022.

Ascendion Chairman Hiten Patel said in a statement that Chatterjee's leadership will help Ascendion navigate the AI-driven evolution of software development. CEO Karthik Krishnamurthy added that Chatterjee's operational expertise and focus on culture and ethics will be vital to Ascendion's AI-powered software engineering vision.

Before LTIMindtree, Chatterjee held senior executive roles at Cognizant for over two decades, including President of Digital Systems & Technology and Head of Global Delivery, where he was instrumental in developing the Banking & Financial Services vertical and expanding Cognizant's presence in Kolkata, Pune, and Mumbai. He began his IT career at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

Ascendion is expanding its global reach with AAVA, its AI platform that combines AI agents and human insights to accelerate software delivery. Chatterjee believes Ascendion's AI-native approach positions it to create significant value for clients during the industry's shift driven by AI.

“AI is not simply the next fad in IT services; it will usher in a reset of the industry, beginning its journey to the next S-Curve. Ascendion’s rapid progress and AI-native mindset stand out, and I’m excited to contribute to a company creating immense value for its clients,” said Chatterjee.

To be sure, Ascendion acquired Moody's Northwest Consulting, a digital transformation and product strategy firm, in June. This acquisition aims to improve Ascension's product management capabilities and support enterprise clients in developing AI-led software, the company said.

The AI engineering firm serves over 400 Global 2000 clients across North America, APAC, and Europe with a focus on applied AI, cloud, data, experience design, and workforce transformation. The firm has 20 offices across the US (including its New Jersey headquarters) and India.
