OpenAI to launch new office in India
ChatGPT-maker OpenAI is establishing an office in New Delhi, its first in India. The company has already registered a legal entity in the country and is now scouting for talent.
An on-ground presence in India will help OpenAI build partnerships with the government, businesses, and developers in the country. The company has committed to working with the government in its IndiaAI Mission. Notably, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman visited New Delhi during his world tour in June and met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
M&A deals this week

India’s fourth-largest Indian IT services company, Wipro, said Thursday it will acquire the Digital Transformation Solutions (DTS) business unit of HARMAN, a provider of ER&D and IT services that is currently part of Samsung, for $375 million, including earn-outs. The deal is expected to be completed by the end of December 2025.
The acquisition will see more than 5,600 DTS employees, including senior leadership across the Americas, Europe and Asia, join Wipro. Once finalised, DTS will be integrated into Wipro’s Engineering Global Business Line.
Further, product and software services provider VVDN Technologies (VVDN) has announced the acquisition of GGS Engineering Services. Hyderabad-based GGS is an engineering solutions company specializing in engineering research and development (ER&D) services for the Automotive, medical technology (MedTech), and Aerospace industries. Through this acquisition, the Gurugram-headquartered firm will gain engineering expertise in the areas of mechanical design, analysis, simulation, virtual manufacturing, and technical publications.

Lastly, R Systems, a digital product engineering firm, announced that it will acquire Novigo Solutions, a specialist in low-code/no-code (LCNC) development and intelligent-automation services. The acquisition integrates R Systems’ OptimaAI Suite with Novigo’s UiPath Diamond-tier automation practice and Microsoft Copilot Centre of Excellence. It will also help R Systems to expand its offerings in the fast-growing Middle East region and gain delivery presence in Bangalore and Tier 2 cities (e.g. Mangalore).

Kyndryl, an enterprise technology services provider spun off from IBM in 2021, plans to invest $2.25 billion in India over the next three years.
The company said that this investment will focus on developing future talent and establishing an AI lab in Bengaluru.

The commitment includes deepening engagement with the Indian government on artificial intelligence (AI), developing IT talent, and supporting digital training for approximately 200,000 citizens.
The company’s Chairman and CEO, Martin Schroeter, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 22, 2025, to discuss the expansion plans. PM Modi welcomed Kyndryl's investment and collaboration with Indian talent to create solutions for both India and global progress.
Vodafone Idea partners with IBM in $600 mn deal
Vodafone Idea (Vi) has entered into a strategic partnership with technology major IBM to modernise its IT systems, strengthen operations, and accelerate digital initiatives by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and automation. The multi-year deal of $600 million is aimed at overhauling its IT systems and integrating AI and automation into telecom operations.

Rishi Aurora, Managing Partner, IBM Consulting India & South Asia, said, “The collaboration extends the companies’ 17-year relationship.”
This new agreement, which replaces their older $800-million contract, which expired in April 2024, is Vi's move to cut costs and stay competitive as it faces financial pressure. That said, IBM is now bringing Kyndryl on board as part of the new deal.
