There have been multiple developments this week on the tech front. From AI investments to M&A deals, here is a list of the most important updates for a quick catch-up:

RIL launches Reliance Intelligence

Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Industries Limited introduced a new, wholly-owned subsidiary to build advanced AI services in India. Called Reliance Intelligence, the new unit will work to scale AI adoption in the country by focusing on infrastructure, partnership, services and talent. The announcement was made at the conglomerate’s annual general meeting (AGM), on Friday.

Under this endeavour, the company has outlined four goals – developing gigawatt-scale, AI-ready data centres in Jamnagar; partnering with global technology leaders and open-source communities; deploying AI solutions across sectors; and attracting world-class AI talent to India. To this end, Reliance has forged two high-stakes partnerships with Google and Meta.

Additionally, this week, IT services firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has created a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Services Transformation unit. Amit Kapur, the head of TCS’ business in the UK and Ireland, has been appointed to lead this unit globally, Reuters has reported. He will be the chief AI and services transformation officer and will be reporting to Aarthi Subramanian, TCS’ chief operating officer.

This new unit will integrate with TCS’ existing teams and capabilities in AI. The unit will also work closely with other horizontal service units and industry business groups.

Cognizant’s Agentic AI investment

Cognizant on Thursday announced an initiative to deploy 1,000 context engineers over the next year, partnering with enterprise IT company Workfabric AI, to industrialise agentic AI solutions across enterprises. The initiative leverages Workfabric AI's ContextFabric platform, which transforms organisational DNA into actionable context for AI agents.

"Cognizant’s commitment, starting with 1,000 context engineers, signals the future of the services industry," said Rohan N. Murty, CEO of Workfabric AI. "ContextFabric will amplify this vision, enabling engineers to deliver trusted, enterprise-grade outcomes. Our platform has demonstrated significant improvements in accuracy, hallucination reduction, deployment speed, and ROI.

Capgemini to acquire Cloud4C

French IT Services major Capgemini said on Tuesday it has signed an agreement to acquire Cloud4C, a Singapore-based managed cloud services provider owned by CtrlS Group. The company has offices in Navi Mumbai and Hyderabad. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 2014 by Sridhar Pinnapureddy, who also heads CtrlS Datacenters and CtrlS Group, Cloud4C has expanded to a workforce of 1,600 employees operating in 29 countries. The firm specialises in automation-driven hybrid and sovereign cloud services, AI-ready platforms, disaster recovery, cybersecurity, and compliance tailored to specific industries. Additionally, it serves as a global premium partner for SAP in S/4 HANA Cloud.

Ishan Technologies introduces sovereign cloud platform

Ahmedabad-headquartered Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and digital connectivity platform Ishan Technologies has introduced Saksham Cloud, a sovereign cloud platform aimed at providing Indian businesses with secure and compliance-focused digital infrastructure.

The platform is hosted across the company’s Rated-3 data centres in Mumbai and Chennai and has received empanelment from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). It also meets several international standards, including ISO 27001, PCI DSS, SOC2, and HIPAA, making it one of the few cloud services in the country with a strong compliance framework.
