Cohesity appoints Greg Statton as Chief Technology Officer for APJ region

Cohesity, a US-based data security and management company, has named Greg Statton as Chief Technology Officer for the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region. The role is newly created and is designed to strengthen the company’s focus on technology strategy and innovation in the region.

Statton will lead Cohesity’s technical vision across APJ while continuing his global responsibilities for Gaia, the company’s AI solution. He will report to Sunil Moolchandani, Cohesity’s Chief Strategy Officer. The appointment follows the integration of Cohesity with Veritas’ enterprise data protection business, and comes as the company places stronger emphasis on growth in Japan and other regional markets.

Statton has been with Cohesity for more than a decade, serving in roles that include Vice President of AI Solutions, Senior Director of Data and AI within the Office of the CTO, Director of Global Technical Enablement, and other leadership positions tied to sales engineering and product innovation.

Before joining Cohesity, he held technical and engineering roles at Nutanix, where he worked as a senior systems engineer, and at Citrix, where he contributed as both a senior engineer and lead software test engineer. Earlier in his career, he worked with Bechtel on technology programs that included mobile application development and information management for large infrastructure projects such as Google Fiber.

Sunil Moolchandani, Chief Strategy Officer, Cohesity, said,  “As we continue to invest in the region, especially in key markets like Japan, Greg’s leadership will play a pivotal role in helping customers adopt our AI-powered data security solutions and strengthen their cyber resilience.

“In today’s fast-changing data protection environment, organisations across Asia Pacific and Japan need technology partners who understand their unique challenges and can deliver tailored, innovative solutions,” said Greg Statton, CTO, Asia Pacific and Japan, Cohesity.

Statton earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications from St. Mary’s College of California.
