Pure Storage bets on AI and cyber resilience to tap Indian enterprise

Data storage solutions provider Pure Storage on Thursday rolled out new enhancements to its Enterprise Data Cloud (EDC) and expanded cyber resilience capabilities, as it looks to position itself as a key partner for Indian enterprises grappling with both the opportunities of artificial intelligence (AI) and the growing threat of cyberattacks.
The announcements, made on September 25 at its annual Pure//Accelerate conference in Mumbai, come at a time when Indian firms across sectors — from financial services and healthcare to manufacturing and IT services — are stepping up investments in cloud, data platforms and AI-led automation. According to industry estimates, India’s enterprise AI market is projected to grow at over 30% annually, while cyberattacks on corporates have also surged, prompting CIOs to prioritise both agility and security.
A centrepiece of Pure’s update is Pure Storage Cloud, now available as an Azure-native service through Microsoft’s Azure VMware Solution. This allows enterprises to migrate storage-heavy VMware workloads into Microsoft’s cloud without rewriting applications, reducing costs and enabling faster adoption of AI tools. “Managing your data, not just storing it, is the new foundation for AI-readiness,” said Rob Lee, Chief Technology Officer at Pure Storage.

For Indian businesses managing hybrid IT estates, this integration is expected to simplify cloud migration and improve data accessibility for AI models. “Together, we’re making it easier for customers to migrate data-heavy VMware workloads into Azure and quickly leverage the latest cloud innovations in AI and analytics,” said Aung Oo, Vice President at Azure Storage.
Pure also announced deeper integration of Portworx with its Fusion platform, unifying management across traditional and cloud-native applications. Its AI Copilot — now extended to Kubernetes environments — enables IT teams to manage and troubleshoot data infrastructure in natural language, cutting reliance on specialist talent, a growing concern in India’s tight tech talent market.
On the cyber resilience front, Pure is embedding threat detection at the storage layer and partnering with leading security providers. New integrations include CrowdStrike for real-time security monitoring, Superna for ransomware and data exfiltration protection, and Veeam for clean recovery delivered as a service. With Pure Protect Recovery Zones, enterprises can also spin up isolated environments to quickly restore operations during an attack.

“Data architecture is a strategic decision. Business success depends on how teams manage and secure it across their global data estate,” said Charles Giancarlo, Chairman and CEO, Pure Storage.
Analysts note that for Indian enterprises, where downtime from ransomware can cripple customer-facing operations and compliance requirements are tightening, Pure’s combined focus on AI-readiness and cyber resilience could resonate strongly. As the company said, by offering both efficiency and protection, the company is betting on India’s twin demand for innovation and security.
