Tata Communications to build digital infra for GST appellate tribunal

Tata Communications, an IT services provider, has secured a project from the Ministry of Finance to develop and manage digital infrastructure for the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT). The initiative covers network systems, cloud services, security, and unified management across all GSTAT benches.
The GSTAT has been established as a dedicated body to resolve disputes related to Goods and Services Tax (GST). It will have its principal bench in New Delhi and 31 state-level benches. The tribunal is expected to play a central role in simplifying taxation disputes and providing a structured process for appeals.
As part of the agreement, Tata Communications will deliver a secure and scalable digital platform. The system will include local and wide area networks, software-defined networking, video conferencing facilities, cloud-based tools, and cybersecurity measures. These technologies will support daily operations and communication across all benches.
The new infrastructure aims to automate processes, improve transparency, and increase efficiency in handling cases. Features such as predictive analytics and chatbot services are planned to assist in case management and stakeholder interaction. The setup will allow seamless connectivity across benches, safeguard data exchange, and strengthen operational security.
This project is designed to ensure consistent digital access for stakeholders nationwide, providing uniform services across the tribunal’s network. It also aligns with the government’s broader push toward digital governance and efficient service delivery in taxation.
Sumeet Walia, Executive Vice President and Chief Sales & Marketing Officer, Tata Communications, said, “This collaboration underscores our commitment to leveraging cutting edge technology, deep domain expertise, and our customer-centric approach to strengthen India’s digital governance ecosystem.”
