Tech consultancy and services firm Capgemini is elevating Sanjay Chalke to the post of chief executive officer in India. Chalke, who has been the India chief operating officer, will assume his post effective January 1 and will join the Group Executive Committee.

The change of heads comes at the retirement of Ashwin Yardi from the Group as the India CEO after seven years of service. He will now become a non-executive Chairman of the board of Capgemini in India. Yardi will focus on nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and will support Chalke in this transition, while Chalke will lead Capgemini in India as a strategic backbone for client delivery excellence, talent, and innovation, the company said in a statement.

“Ashwin has been instrumental in establishing Capgemini’s industry leadership and talent in India. During his leadership, Capgemini in India has seen significant growth, expanding from 105,500 to nearly 180,000 team members. I am deeply grateful for his outstanding contributions throughout his 30-year career within the Group.

I am equally delighted to welcome Sanjay Chalke as the new CEO of Capgemini in India. Under his leadership, we look forward to accelerating our growth even further, deepening our impact, and continuing to strengthen India as a center for innovation, technology and transformation. I look forward to working closely with both Ashwin and Sanjay,” said Aiman Ezzat, Chief Executive Officer of Capgemini.

As the COO of Capgemini in India, Chalke led multiple transformation programs, focused on operational excellence, talent acquisition, delivery assurance, and building cross-functional synergies across business units. He is also a member of the India Country Board (ICB). Notably, Yardi, too, was a former Capgemini India COO turned CEO.

In his previous position as the Executive Vice President and Head of Sogeti India at Capgemini, Chalke led Sogeti India at Capgemini, where he drove strategic initiatives to elevate business performance and talent transformation, while building high-performing delivery teams. He also headed the Global SAP Business at DXC Technologies (formerly CSC), managing cross-functional global teams for key clients.
