Infosys introduces AI agent to improve data-driven operations in the Energy Sector

Infosys has introduced an AI-based agent aimed at improving operational processes in the energy sector. The solution focuses on helping organizations manage large volumes of data and make decisions more efficiently. It is built using Infosys Topaz, Infosys Cobalt, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure OpenAI in Foundry Models, and ChatGPT-4o.

The AI agent uses conversational interaction to analyze real-time information and convert it into insights that can support day-to-day operations. It can review reports, well logs, images, charts, and tables to present key findings in a clear format. The system is designed to assist engineers, operators, and field teams in accessing information without manually searching through data-heavy documents.

One of the primary functions of the solution is to provide early warnings and predictive insights. By identifying patterns in data, it helps users anticipate issues that may affect performance or safety. This can reduce delays, minimize operational errors, and support planning activities. The tool can also automate report creation, reducing time spent on administrative work.

In drilling and well operations, the AI agent can help monitor wellbore conditions and performance metrics. By offering quick access to data and historical records, it supports decision-making related to equipment use, maintenance, and operational steps. This can contribute to reducing non-productive time and improving reliability in field operations.

Stephen Boyle, VP Partner Development, Global Partner Solutions, Microsoft, said, “Our collaboration with Infosys combines deep domain expertise with advanced AI and cloud technologies, helping organizations drive measurable business value by enhancing safety, reliability, and operational excellence.”

Ashiss Kumar Dash, EVP & Global Head – Services, Utilities, Resources, Energy, and Enterprise Sustainability, Infosys, said, “The energy sector faces ongoing challenges in managing complexities of vast volume of operational data while making real-time decisions that ensure safety, efficiency, and peak performance. Our AI Agent solution, directly tackles these challenges by transforming raw data into actionable insights through intuitive conversational AI.”
