Ishan Netsol to provide citywide network connectivity for Surat Municipal Operations
Ishan Netsol Pvt. Ltd., an ICT and digital connectivity solutions provider, has signed a contract with the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) to provide citywide internet and intranet connectivity for seven years. The project will cover around 1,000 locations and will serve as a key network layer for Surat’s ongoing smart city programs.
Under the agreement, Ishan Netsol will supply Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) connectivity using dark fiber. The network will support various municipal functions, including CCTV surveillance, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, attendance monitoring, and other digital services used by different departments. The network will aim to maintain 99.5 percent uptime and will include backup internet connections to prevent service disruption.
The project is intended to support the city’s digital operations and enable coordination across departments. A stable internal network is seen as necessary for surveillance systems, service delivery platforms, and other digital tools used by the municipality. With the growing number of online and automated services, the requirement for uninterrupted connectivity in civic administration has increased.
Ishan Netsol has been involved in network infrastructure projects in multiple regions. The company’s role includes providing and maintaining secure communication networks for government and enterprise clients.
Commenting on the development, Pinkesh Kotecha, Chairman and Managing Director, Ishan Technologies, said, “This partnership with Surat Municipal Corporation highlights our role as a trusted ICT enabler for India’s smart city journey. By delivering resilient and future-ready connectivity, we aim to empower Surat to provide efficient, technology-driven governance and enhance the quality of life for its citizens.”
