David Zakkam joins JioStar as head of analytics and data strategy

Broadcaster JioStar has appointed David Zakkam as the senior vice president and the head of analytics and data strategy. In this role, Zakkam will lead the digital analytics team while partnering with the business, content marketing, and product and engineering teams.
“The role is critical to helping the company reach its potential. The opportunity to shape how data and analytics fuel that journey was too compelling to pass up. In his last stint, he was the Data Science Director at Uber, where he was responsible for overseeing the company's Mobility and Delivery divisions in Bengaluru.
Zakkam has previously held positions at Meta, Swiggy, and Mu Sigma. He has led analytics teams of over 450 individuals and managed senior client relationships in both Europe and the United States. He is a graduate of IIT Delhi (2001) and IIM Calcutta (2006).
The JioHotstar merger is a joint venture between Reliance Industries and The Walt Disney Company that was launched on February 14 this year. It combined the streaming services of Reliance's JioCinema and Disney's Disney+ Hotstar into a single platform, JioHotstar, under the new entity JioStar. This merger created one of India's largest streaming services, integrating content from both platforms and offering a wide range, comprising local content to international films and sports.
