Cloudera launches AI-driven data federation and lineage update for enterprises

Cloudera, a data management and analytics company, has introduced a new platform update that brings together Trino, Cloudera Shared Data Experience (SDX), and Cloudera Octopai Data Lineage. The update is designed to give enterprises a single way to access and control data across many environments without moving it. The release comes as organizations push to use more data for AI projects but continue to face gaps in data availability.

The integration adds Trino’s federation features, which allow users to query distributed data and interact with it through natural language tools. This makes it possible to reach data in different locations using engines placed near the data source. SDX supports the update by unifying metadata and access controls, reducing management steps and enabling secure self-service access.

The platform uses AI to automate work such as data quality checks, classification, and profiling. Customers can deploy Trino in data centers or public clouds and connect to multiple systems using certified connectors. Cloudera Octopai Data Lineage tracks how data moves and changes across environments, including data from outside the Cloudera ecosystem, giving teams clear visibility into data flows.

Leo Brunnick, Chief Product Officer, Cloudera, said, “With this release, we’re taking a major step forward, bringing AI-powered automation, governance, and access together under one platform. Enterprises can now securely harness all their data anywhere to accelerate innovation and drive better business outcomes.”
