HCLTech acquires HPE Telco Solutions Business to boost telecom capabilities

HCLTech has signed an agreement to acquire the Telco Solutions business from Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), expanding its enterprise technology capabilities for global communication service providers. The transaction builds on a prior deal completed in 2024, when HCLTech acquired parts of HPE’s Communications Technology Group.

The Telco Solutions unit provides software and platforms that telecom operators use to manage and operate their networks. Its systems support more than one billion devices across over 200 deployments worldwide. The portfolio includes operations support systems, home subscriber server platforms, and 5G subscriber data management. It also provides automation tools that use artificial intelligence to monitor networks and adjust performance in real time.

HPE’s Telco Solutions business was previously part of its Communications Technology Group. Assets acquired by HCLTech in 2024 covered areas such as business support systems, network applications, service cloudification, and data platforms. According to the companies, those assets have since been integrated into HCLTech’s services and product lines.

With the new acquisition, HCLTech plans to expand its work in network transformation, cloud-based network services, and autonomous networking. The deal will also transfer approximately 1,500 engineers and telecom specialists from 39 countries to HCLTech. These employees are expected to support delivery, product development, and research activities across global telecom clients.

Anil Ganjoo, chief growth officer and global head of telecom, media, publishing & entertainment and technology (TMT) at HCLTech, said, “Integrating this highly skilled HPE team and their market-proven IP strengthens our product-aligned model and accelerates our shift toward higher-value, IP-led services and non-linear growth.”

Rami Rahim, executive vice president, president and general manager, Networking, HPE, said, “This transaction will yield benefits for CSPs for many years to come, as both HPE and HCLTech pursue their unique, differentiated approaches to supporting this vital sector of the market, through strategic focus and commitment to innovation.”

The companies said the transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and other standard closing conditions. If approvals are received, the deal is expected to close within about six months.
