Pankaj Gupta joins Ujjivan Small Finance Bank as Chief Digital Officer

Banking and technology veteran Pankaj Gupta has joined as the Chief Digital Officer of Ujjivan Small Finance Bank Limited, a small finance bank based in Bengaluru.

Gupta, most recently served as Chief Digital and Marketing Officer at Karnataka Bank, where he led a holistic digital transformation agenda aimed at modernising customer engagement, strengthening analytics capabilities and accelerating technology-led growth. During his tenure, he anchored the creation of Digital and Analytics Centres of Excellence, institutionalising data-driven decision-making and embedding innovation across business functions.

As per his LinkedIn profile, Gupta has more than 30 years of experience spanning IT infrastructure, cloud, data centres, applications, managed services, telecom, digital platforms and analytics, and has worked at the intersection of business strategy and technology execution. His career reflects a rare blend of operational depth and strategic oversight, particularly in sectors navigating legacy modernisation and platform transitions.

Before joining Karnataka Bank, Gupta held senior leadership roles at Sify Technologies Ltd., HCL Services Ltd., Wipro Infotech, Acer India Pvt Ltd and Godrej Pacific Technology Ltd. Across these organisations, he worked extensively with banks and enterprises as a service provider, helping them modernise infrastructure, adopt cloud and managed services, and deploy digital solutions at scale.

Industry executives familiar with his work describe Gupta as a “transformation-focused leader” who “combines commercial acumen with execution discipline.” His experience on both sides of the table — as a technology service provider and as a banking CXO — has positioned him uniquely in India’s evolving digital ecosystem.

Gupta holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing with International Business from NMIMS Mumbai and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communications from MREC, Jaipur.
