Razorpay on Thursday launched what it described as the world’s first Agent Studio for payments, built using the Claude Agent SDK from Anthropic, as the fintech firm looks to embed artificial intelligence into digital commerce and payment operations.

The announcement was made at Razorpay’s FTX 2026 event, where the company also introduced its Agentic Experience Platform, an AI-native layer aimed at simplifying how businesses onboard to Razorpay, integrate payments and manage financial workflows.
The company said the new platforms mark a shift toward AI-driven financial infrastructure where intelligent agents can automate routine commerce tasks such as recovering abandoned carts, retrying failed subscriptions, managing disputes and forecasting cash flow.

“Businesses don’t just need more software anymore—they need intelligence that can act,” said Harshil Mathur, co-founder and chief executive of Razorpay. “With Agent Studio for payments, companies can deploy AI agents that understand and monitor their revenue flows, resolve payment issues and unlock insights across billions of transactions in real time.”

Razorpay’s Agent Studio functions as a marketplace and builder platform that allows merchants to deploy specialised AI agents to automate operational tasks without writing code.

The platform aims to address common operational challenges faced by online businesses, including recovering abandoned carts, reconciling settlements, retrying failed subscription payments and responding to payment disputes.
For the initial rollout, the company introduced several production-ready AI agents. These include an Abandoned Cart Conversion Agent, developed with Nugget by Zomato and SuperU, which uses voice-led interactions to convert incomplete checkouts into completed purchases.

Other agents include a Dispute Responder Agent that automatically responds to payment disputes, a Subscription Recovery Agent built with voice technology from ElevenLabs to recover failed subscriptions, and a Cashflow Forecaster Agent that predicts revenue patterns and potential liquidity gaps. The platform integrates with several commerce and enterprise tools including Shopify, Shiprocket, WhatsApp, Slack, Tally Solutions and QuickBooks.

Alongside Agent Studio, Razorpay launched the Agentic Experience Platform, which uses conversational AI to simplify merchant onboarding, payment integration and dashboard management. The platform enables businesses to complete onboarding in minutes, manage payments using natural language commands and integrate Razorpay’s payment infrastructure using AI coding environments and no-code tools.

According to Irina Ghose, managing director of Anthropic India, Razorpay’s deployment of Claude demonstrates how AI agents can address real commerce challenges such as revenue recovery, dispute resolution and cash-flow prediction.

Industry observers say the launch reflects a broader shift toward AI-powered automation in financial infrastructure as fintech companies increasingly embed intelligent agents into payment and commerce systems.
