Japan-headquartered global IT and consulting services firm NTT Data on Monday launched a Global Capability Centre (GCC) Innovation Acceleration Programme in India, aiming to help more than 50 global enterprises set up and scale offshore innovation hubs in the country over the next three years.

The programme is designed to support companies establishing GCCs and other delivery centres in India—from planning and governance design to talent development and process optimisation. The initiative will also focus on accelerating enterprise innovation through technologies such as agentic AI, generative AI, high-performance computing, digital twins, robotics, blockchain and the company’s IOWN architecture.

The move comes amid rising global demand for highly skilled technology talent and a growing shift among multinational companies to expand innovation capabilities through offshore hubs. NTT Data said India was selected as the launch market due to its large pool of engineering talent and strong technical ecosystem.

India’s GCC sector, which delivers IT, engineering, and back-office services to multinational firms, is projected to grow nearly 70% to $110 billion by 2030, from about $65 billion currently. The ecosystem is also expected to expand to more than 2,500 centres and employ close to 4.5 million professionals by the end of the decade.

“While GCCs in India are becoming global innovation engines, enterprise-scale AI adoption is still at a relatively early stage. Fewer than 20% of GCCs currently use AI as a core capability,” said Avinash Joshi. He added that the programme aims to help organisations scale AI adoption faster and translate it into measurable business value.

The company said it is already working with global clients through its hubs in India. These include the Unilever GCC Hub Bengaluru, where NTT Data has supported the development of a global innovation strategy and the adoption of advanced R&D technologies.

NTT Data is also collaborating with Denso International India on digital platform development for mobility circular-economy initiatives and with a global automotive manufacturer on digital-twin-led manufacturing improvements.

According to the company, the programme will leverage its global network of innovation centres and a workforce of more than 190,000 employees to support co-creation R&D with multinational clients operating in India’s fast-growing GCC ecosystem.
