Tata Elxsi launches Offshore Development Center for Terumo’s medical device engineering

Tata Elxsi has launched a global offshore development center for Terumo Corporation to support the development of cardiac and vascular products. The new center will focus on engineering, product lifecycle support, verification, compliance, and localisation for international markets.

The facility, called the Terumo–Tata Elxsi Offshore Development Center, will bring together teams working across design, software, engineering, and regulatory functions. The setup is aimed at helping Terumo build and adapt products for different regions while managing the standards required in the medical technology sector.

The partnership also includes the use of AI, generative AI, and digital engineering tools in software development. These technologies are expected to support faster design cycles, streamline testing and documentation, and help tailor products for specific markets. The companies said the center will also support cost control as demand grows for medical devices designed around clinical use and patient needs.

The development center will work on technologies used in cardiac and vascular care, an area where product performance, safety, and regulatory compliance are central to market access. By combining engineering support with ongoing lifecycle management, the collaboration is intended to help Terumo scale development and maintain product support across geographies.

Terumo said the center will help the company move faster on its product roadmap while maintaining safety and compliance requirements. Tata Elxsi said the engagement reflects a long-term delivery model built around design, engineering, and regulatory support for Terumo’s cardiovascular portfolio.
