Sonata’s domestic arm signs five-year AWS pact to drive cloud, AI transformation in India

Bengaluru-based mid-tier IT services company Sonata Software’s domestic business, Sonata Information Technology Ltd (SITL), has signed a five-year Strategic Collaboration Agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to expand cloud modernisation and AI transformation services for enterprises in India.

Under the agreement, Sonata will invest in dedicated AWS-focused sales, presales, technical and delivery capabilities and expand joint go-to-market efforts across sectors including banking, financial services and insurance, retail, manufacturing, IT and healthcare.

The collaboration comes as Indian enterprises move beyond initial cloud adoption towards modernising legacy workloads and building infrastructure for AI applications. Sonata and AWS will jointly pursue larger cloud transformation engagements, with Sonata also gaining access to AWS programmes including the Migration Acceleration Program and Managed Services Program.

The companies will focus on the adoption of AWS services including Amazon Aurora, Amazon Redshift, Amazon Bedrock, Amazon SageMaker, Amazon EC2, Amazon EKS and AWS Transform as part of modernisation and AI initiatives.

“This five-year collaboration with AWS represents an important step in advancing our cloud business in India,” said Sujit Mohanty, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Sonata Software’s Domestic Business. “It will allow us to deepen our AWS capabilities, engage customers earlier in their transformation journeys, and address more strategic opportunities.”

For Sonata, the agreement provides a longer-term framework to expand its AWS practice and align its technical and sales resources around cloud transformation opportunities. The company said the collaboration is intended to support customers moving from legacy technology environments to modern cloud architectures.

Praveen Sridhar, Head of Partner and ISV Business, AWS India and South Asia, said enterprises in India were moving towards modernising critical workloads and building foundations for AI-led innovation.

The agreement is part of Sonata Software’s broader hyperscaler-led growth strategy. SITL is the company’s wholly owned domestic subsidiary and works with Indian enterprises on cloud adoption, hybrid cloud management and enterprise IT security.
