IDG Ventures-backed Vserv appoints ex-Times Internet exec Rohit Verma as VP, India and Middle East

Mumbai-based mobile ad network Vserv has announced the addition of three senior executives to its global management. It has appointed Rohit Verma asVP, India and Middle East; Elliot Renton as GM, publisher alliances, South East Asia and Narayan Murthy Ivaturi as GM, sales strategy. These appointments have been made to push growth in emerging markets, as per an official release.

Commenting on the announcement, Dippak Khurana, co-founder and CEO, Vserv.mobi said, "We have built critical mass over the last three years and our network has witnessed tremendous growth across all emerging markets as mobile becomes the 'primary' screen for consumers. We are confident that these eminent mobile industry mavens will bring an enormous amount of knowledge and experience to the company and will be instrumental in making us the #1 Ad Network across emerging markets."

Rohit Verma was working with Times Internet as AVP, business development, operator, D2C, OEM & Mobile Content, prior to VServ. He has also worked with brands like Bharti Airtel and ACL Wireless.

Renton, GM- publisher alliances, South East Asia was with Nokia as senior manager, partnerships and business development, APAC, before VServ. Renton will lead strategic alliances with premium publishers across Southeast Asia at Vserv. He has also held senior roles with Getty Images and Thomson Reuters in Asia.

Ivaturi  will lead the rollout of brand solutions for advertisers across categories. Prior to VServ, he was with Times Internet as general manager.

Established in January 2010 by Dippak Khurana and Ashay Padwal, VServ is backed by IDG Ventures from which it received Series A round of funding to the tune of $3 million. As part of the deal Manik Arora and Karan Mohla from IDG Ventures joined Vserv's board. Ajay Adiseshann, founder and managing director of the mobile payment company PayMate, has also invested an undisclosed amount in Vserv.

VServ has been looking to strengthen its business in emerging markets for sometime. It appointed Vikas Gulati as vice president – business development for South East Asia, in April. VServ has earlier also stated that the basic positioning that it is working on is to become the top mobile ad network in emerging markets (see full story here)
