Gurgaon-based Lifestyle and apparel e-commerce venture, Freecultr's co-founder and CEO, Sujal Shah has stepped down from his position. Sandeep Singh, COO and co-founder of the company, will be replacing Shah this month.
When contacted by Techcircle, Shah declined to comment.
The development was first reported by Medianama.
"Sujal Shah, moves forward to pursue his entrepreneurial passions that include helping international companies enter India, incubating and mentoring new business ventures, and serving in an advisory capacity to the Smile Group and other companies," according to a company statement.
Freecultr was co-founded by Shah, Singh and Rajesh Narkar in December 2011 with backing from the Harish Bahl's Smile Group, which runs a slew of e-com sites.
Shah has almost two decades of international experience in leadership, brand management and business execution. An MBA from the Columbia Business School, Shah was also the former VP and head of fashion at IMG India.
In 2000, Shah co-founded a company named Agnition and in 1996 he co-founded a venture called CVSP.
Before Freecultr, Singh co-founded digital marketing services firm, Quasar Media Pvt. Ltd and also founded a city specific portal, Yankeedelhi.com. Apart from these, Singh has worked in media sales team of Rediff.com India Pvt. Ltd.
Recently, Freecultr launched 'digital pop-out concept store' in Delhi. The 'pop-out store' is essentially a cross between a kiosk and a full-fledged outlet. So unlike a kiosk, a buyer can even try out the clothes in a makeshift trial room.
The company raised $4 million from Sequoia Capital India in December 2011.
